DATE: Victorian, c.1880

An exquisite Victorian safety pin crafted in 15 karat gold and furnished with an old mine cut diamond. The stone rests in an attractive 8-point star mount, and, as well as being an incredibly cool and versatile piece of jewellery, it's a fully functional safety pin. Possible uses: brooch, pendant, hat/tie/scarf pin, charm holder, hold cloth nappy together. The safety pin was invented by Walter Hunt of New York in 1849... this one dates from around 1880.
